3 ways to deal with change!

I cannot believe I didn't post these pictures I took in Central Park during fall, they are stunning! But you know what fall is associated with? Change, the much dreaded change. And let me tell you, if someone knows bout change its me and if someone knows how hard change is, its me and how to hate change its me, but I'm converted now. I like change, ok that was too much of a statement. But I enjoy change, I try to live with it and I do have my little secrets that I would love to share with you!

  1. Do not fight change. Easier said than done I know! But the more you try to fight it the more it will take you to accept it. A good way to not fight change is to think what could go wrong? everything? ok, so let everything go wrong. At my short 24 years I've discovered that when everything "goes wrong" I am still alive and if I think about it a month later it wasn't that bad after all.
  2.  Have a routine. This one applies a 100% if you are moving to another city or country. Establishing different routines work for your mind like you know where to go and what to do, you have something to look forward to! One of my routines when I first got to New York was go to my favorite neighborhood and walk around, then go to a Starbucks (routine people)  and order a coffee. Then when I moved apartments my routine was going to get sushi at a place on 66st and then go to Central Park, to come back to a Starbucks (I know!) for my daily dose of caffeine (At the time!)
  3. Search for support. And if you are any like me, I'm not saying people, al though if you have people that can act as a support system, good for you! But for me support sometimes was writing on my blog, going through old pictures and lately has been reading. Yes in some sort of way is a form of escaping reality but at the end of the day we all need a escape from crazy people or world, but HEY just a little!

How I De-stress in paradise.

To be completely honest this year didn't come to a great start. Can't say it has been bad but it definitely wasn't what I was hoping for or expecting really- That's why a much needed vacation was in the cards for me and one day when I just reached my max point I decided to go to paradise for a couple of days and just enjoy being me and taking in my surroundings without having to worry about life.

Here is how I De-Stress in Miami!

- Walks on the beach
It might be simple for some people but for me, in Miami, calms me immensely, looking a the color of the water and the tiny waves is bliss!

- Doing what I used to do when I was happy.
What did I do? I went back to my vacation/paradise/stress free life routine. Which is going to CVS, walk alongside Collins Ave, buy nail stuff (this time I got my nails done!) But overall re visit what I am used to do while I am there because there hasn't been a time I wasn't happy.

Shopping
OK this time I was focused on buying whatever I wanted, but obviously I didn't find anything lol. But these are the times where I forget I have to pay bills, I forget I live in a super expensive city, I forget everything and I just feel like I am on a life stand by and shop everything.

And last but definitely not least.

Is to be grateful, take a couple of minutes of what are you doing and talk to God, or yourself and remind yourself how lucky you are to be there and whatever you are going through for better or worse, will not last forever.

Going out tops x TOBI

Summer is coming or well at least that's what I'm hoping for! Lately has been so cold in NYC!
So TOBI contacted me and they showed me the awesome stuff they've got in their website, which to my surprise I wasn't aware, so now I am happy or maybe sad because I know I will be buying more clothes! haha as if I need more... I really do.
So they kindly send me some tops to show you, which I have to say I have a few fave ones.

First of all, this blue crop top is #Goals, I don't know in what sense, but it is dreamy! The second I saw it I was like 'I need to get this' I instantly imagined myself in the streets on my way to Marquee! It is perfect for a night out and the fabric is a nice semi sheer velvet and the color? Don't get me started the blue is perfect, is kind of a mix between navy and cobalt blue which makes it perfect. I paired it with a black high waisted denim skirt. You can of course pair it with high waisted jeans but I would recommend only black ones because the blue denim might clash a little bit. I decided to pair both with a fuchsia lipstick by Givenchy that for some reason looks more towards a red kind of color, but either way I think it gives it a nice pop to the whole outfit.

Now for the other top. Let's have a second to admire all the black I wear every day. And this top wouldn't be an exception! It is an off the shoulder crop which goes perfect with high waisted palazzo pants (Which Im still on the hunt for the perfect pair!) The top has cool details on the sleeves making them the cool factor.
I cannot wait for the weather to get warmer and take these tops for a stroll! Also stay tuned because I've got an off the shoulder dress from them that is amazing! But as I said, winter has to go now so I can rock it soon!

Boston for the weekend

After a much needed break I am back in the city. And funny enough I had a little city getaway 2.0.
I went to Miami last week and then my bff surprised me with a little trip to Boston which I gotta say, made me want to go traveling x10!
I've never been those obsessed with travel, don't get me wrong, I for sure want to see the world, but lately it's been something that my mind craves more and more like the air I need to breathe and that ladies and gentlemen has never happened before.

What did we do in Boston?
We went near Quincy Market which is one of the most recommended places I've gotta say! But we didn't actually go there, instead we had awesome fish tacos at Chart House, which was lovely being outside in the sun even though was freezing!

What to see?
If I have one thing to recommend when going to Boston is DEFINITELY going to Harvard, it woke up the little girl in me and reminded me how much I wanted to attend when I was little! It was definitely a dream of mine and being able to walk around the campus and buying myself a Harvard sweater was amazing!

It is such a great feeling when you make your dreams come true.
After this weekend I definitely want to take a car more often and just drive around NY to see what other places I can visit! And you should do that too wherever you are!

Thursday Thoughts

A few of my favorite quotes. My tumblr is full of them, but really take them in and live by them!!!

The new Decor

Since I moved to a new apartment I've been obsessed with decor. Literally obsessed. I have so much fun going to Decor stores, even antiques store (which I used to hate) and I want to bring home everything.
To be quite true and critic of myself I am not sure what kind of style I have when it comes to decorate. I've been through weird phases like the time I painted my bedroom wall yellow/orange-ish which looked cool and then I wanted to add some Bollywood style with fabrics hanging from the ceiling and walls, basically my room looked like a fucking gypsy tent, which was fun at the time and now that I remember that I wonder how did my mom allow that? I guess that is the beauty of experimenting.
Right now I would say I am way more into whites and clean lines! In my room I have this black dresser that drives me insane every time I look at it because I just want to paint it white. Also, I should post about my mini DIY nigh stand which turn out to be one of my most priced posesions now.

Number 1 tip.  Definitely all decorative objects should work also as storage, specially if you live in NYC!

Watercolor vibes

Lately I've been into exploring more of what I like and new things I want to try. Since I moved to NYC I always say that every time I get out of my comfort zone I have a good time and it gets boring when I don't.
That's why the other day I was thinking of going for watercolors so I could finally make my painting dreams a reality! I've always been super impatient and to be honest I just want to paint these beautiful sceneries in a split second but this time I am reminding myself to be patient and just take it slow, that's why some of my paintings are shit, but some like this abstract one are cool.

I also realized I go a lot for blue hues since it reminds me of the water, which funny enough, I was never a big fan of. But now I am eyeing some photos to hang on my room with cool waves and beaches. I hope this helps you to experiment more!

My stay in Chile

I made peace with my country.
Yes, if you know me it might sound like I just gone crazy but no. This time I enjoyed being home so much and I loved my country how I am supposed to (Don't get me wrong, I'm def staying in the US) but now I do look forward to unwind in Chile and visit family. And even if I don't have friends there or I don't have anything to do, is exciting. It is like driving for the first time, visiting my aunt's house up in the mountains for the first time everything feels new and refreshing, because it is true, you definitely need a break from NYC sometimes.

First day of the year me and my mom decided to go to the casino! And it was so nice to drive on empty highways and play in noisy colorful machines!

We went to the pool with my cousin's kids and we had a blast! All day at the pool is definitely my definition of summer!

Goodbye lunch, heartbreaking.

The perfect leopard coat.

It has been forever since I wanted to own a leopard faux fur coat that didn't look tacky, that made me look like that mischievous french that smokes in PE class behind a tree! And I have to say I finally found it! I bought it last year on ASOS and they for sure have the best options on the market! It gives me that Je ne sais quoi I was aiming for and it actually looks like it might be real but no animal was harmed in the process.

I love to dress it up or down, it is so versatile! It works absolutely perfect with a pair of adidas sneakers or with an all black outfit ready to hit the town! (specially in NYC!) And I have to say it definitely keeps you warm! It has that très chic factor I love and it gives me the comfort I always wish I had, because honestly not even sneakers are comfortable for me, I guess I was meant to be Cinderella, if that makes any sense.
Anyways below you can find similar options. Oh, and little snaps from my new work neighborhood... who would have thought I was going to end up working near my favorite building in the city.

The MET

I cannot begin to tell you how bless I feel to live in a city that holds one of my favorite museums of all time. The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Ugh, it is seriously stunning and every time I have a chance I go there, maybe I see everything again and again, but really this museum is a must when visiting NYC. One of my favorites is the renaissance paintings aisle or salon, because it reminds me of the Louvre, which I definitely need to go back since when I went to Paris we literally saw the Mona Lisa and the Venus, so it is def a must when I go to Paris again this year.

But Renaissance painting is something that makes me wonder for hours. I don't know if it happens to you or not but every time I see a painting I stare at it thinking what they were thinking at that exact time, what was the artist listening, what were the "models" thinking, what was the context of the painting and what was going on in their surroundings.
To be honest I am not sure if I know how to read art or if  you are supposed to "read" it, but I love just seeing every little corner of the painting imagining or just paying attention to the strokes of the brush, the color combination and the whole story in just one piece of canvas.

I went to see the Michelangelo exhibit at the MET in November-ish and it was fabulous although I am not too much of a drawing person I rather like paintings but some sculptures really caught my attention like the one below.
I went back last Sunday to see what I love the most which was the renaissance paintings and also had the chance to eat my first ever giant pretzel and it didn't disappoint!
